Members of the US Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program Receive Training at Jet, Inc.
Jet, Inc. hosted visitors from Latin America who were invited to the United States under the Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program. The Cleveland Council on World Affairs actively coordinated and participated in the program. Attendees included government officials, bank executives, economists and journalists from Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia and Mexico. The Department of State’s objectives targeted the global economy’s impact on the United States and Latin America and, in-turn, their role in the global economy. The Department's focus also included the evaluation of emerging Latin American economies in relation to the global market, the effects of current global and regional trade agreements on the US (and countries in the Western Hemisphere), as well as the significance of the emerging trade alliances, such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the Trans-Atlantic Trade Investment Partnership (TTIP). Brenda Hernandez, Jet, Inc.'s Project Manager for Latin America, presented information about Jet products, benefits of wastewater treatment and water reuse, export challenges due to country specific tariff and non-tariff barriers and the potential impact of TPP on Jet’s exports to Latin America.
